The Volkswagen Crafter 4MOTION used the ACHLEITNEr drive system with an off-road ratio (2.5:1). This system permanently distributes power between both axles in a ratio of 50:50 and has a standard differential lock in the transfer case and on the rear axle. A front axle lock can also be ordered as an option. With such equipment, the limits of the Crafter 4MOTION's capabilities are set only by the laws of physics, because when all locks are engaged, each wheel can independently transfer up to 100 percent of the drive torque. Such VW CRAFTERS were the technical service vehicles on the DAKAR.
