Operating this vehicle for long-distance transportation, I've found the Volvo FM 400 to meet most expectations. The driving controls feel responsive and intuitive, making handling less stressful. The overall build quality gives confidence even under heavy load conditions. Interior amenities are practical, though not overly luxurious. Tire wear has been consistent with regular conditions.

I’ve been around FM-series trucks a while and this FM 400 setup (the heavy haul 6-axle/48-tyre kind) is mostly about pulling without drama. In the plains it just keeps moving, and the cab has proper space. You can actually sit, stretch, and sleep in there without feeling stuck. The lights at night felt kind of average though, not something I’d hype up.

Tyre life is a big “depends” deal. Road, load, and how you drive it… that’s what decides when you’re swapping rubber. One more thing: price is not small at all, and once you get into axles/paint/spec, it climbs fast. But for control and stability with heavy weight, it feels sorted.

I've driven the Volvo FM 400 for several years now, and it's a reliable workhorse. The engine offers solid performance, especially on highways with moderate loads. The cabin space is adequate for long hauls, though it could use a bit more comfort features. Fuel efficiency is reasonable, considering its capacity. Maintenance has been straightforward, but parts availability sometimes causes delays.

I've been behind the wheel of the FM 400 for a while now, so I know this truck pretty well. What I like is the pulling power, no question. Even with a full load, especially on the plain roads, it doesn't struggle much. 400 HP is no joke for heavy haulage. Gear shifting is smooth enough but sometimes when I'm loaded to the max, it takes a bit longer to get going. The space inside is surprisingly good, and I can sleep without feeling cramped. The cab layout is alright, but I wish some switches were easier to reach. For long hauls, the fan setup and places to keep food help a lot. Maintenance isn't cheap, those axles and tires cost a lot when you add it all up. Sometimes the ride gets bumpy and loud if the road's not great, but overall, no big issues. Reliability's solid, it doesn't let me down unless something really bad happens.
